Five Things I Learned While Working on the Late Summer Issue

Photograph by Jo Roberts

1.That birth is amazing

Wow! Look at Jo Robertson’s photos in the Birth in Pictures feature. Jo shares words and pictures on “the crowning shot” and it is an incredible reminder of how amazing birth and women’s bodies are.

2. How important it is to look after ourselves when working

I love Benaifer Bhandari’s reflective Homeopathy column. Benaifer shares her experience of stepping back into the world of full-time work and commuting and her reflections made me think about how easy it is to fall into bad habits when busy working. How can we best support ourselves?

3. I discovered an amazing lip gloss!

Juniper Seed have created a lip gloss that is plastic free, moisturising, leaves a fab colour without your lips feeling coated and is vegan! Find out more in our Bodycare review feature.

4. I was reminded to make tea with lime flowers

The Seed Sistas share their “heart and soul” herbal tea recipe. One ingredient is lime and, as I write this, our garden is full of the exotic scent, tempting me to pick some to make tea. Do you have a favourite herb to make tea with?

5. How to overcome “time sickness”

Jody Walton explains what time sickness is and how to recover. I’m too busy, and I know it. I like to be busy, but I know it sometimes gets out of hand. So I’m not sure I’ll ever “recover” from time sickness, but I certainly appreciated being reminded of approaches to help me manage my time in a better way.
