Thank you to everyone who posted a review on social media; we were overwhelmed by the response. We are sad that we can’t showcase all the slings that were recommended, but you can see the full range on #junobestlovedsling on Facebook and Instagram.
Pouchlings Customised Toddler Carrier
“This Pouchlings reversible custom-made toddler carrier is my absolute favourite. It’s the most comfortable buckle carrier I’ve ever used (and I’ve used a lot, having also run a sling library). I’ve carried all three of my children with it and it is still going strong. The quality and workmanship is just incredible and Angela, who runs Pouchlings as a small independently run business, is so wonderful and helpful to work with.” Claire
Each custom-made carrier is a hand-crafted, personalised piece of artwork, and can include appliqué and free-motion embroidery. Off-the-shelf carriers are available, made from Pouchlings’ own Oeko-Tex certified Honeycomb Loom wrap fabric, woven in the UK. They also offer a more budget range made from colourful cotton twill.
Prices range from £45 to £250
ISARA The ONE
“This is a fully adjustable, soft-structured carrier that easily fits both a newborn and a 5-year-old. It’s also quick to adjust between wearers, so both myself and my husband, and even Grandma, can use it. It has clever, adjustable shoulder straps which fit petite, tall or plus-size wearers. Anyone can carry anyone in this carrier! The comfortable padded waistband made from memory foam is really light and does not dig in. The padding on the shoulder straps is not too bulky either, and the straps can be worn straight or crossed over at the back. The chest strap/back strap is also really easy to tighten. The fabric, made from organic woven wrap, is soft and malleable and comes in a selection of very stylish designs. This is an amazing carrier and has become one of my favourites.” Joanna
Suitable from 3kg to 20kg. The ONE offers front inwards, hip, and back carrying options. It’s made from 100% organic cotton and can be adjusted to fit newborns, toddlers and preschoolers.
Joy and Joe Linen Ring Sling
“I’d like to recommend my oh-so-comfortable Joy and Joe Linen Ring Sling. It was quicker to learn how to use than a stretchy wrap, and it’s quicker to put on too! I can get so much more done in this sling than my wrap or buckle carrier as I can adjust Arabella’s position really easily. We do @sweatymamawalsall workouts with her on my back (at 10kg, she makes for great resistance when doing squats!) and the household chores with her on my hip. Babywearing is also great for social distancing as you take up less room than with a pram. Joy and Joe is just the loveliest company too.” Louise
The ring sling is made from 100% natural linen, is machine-washable, and is 212cm by 66cm. It is suitable from approximately 3.5kg to 16kg, and for use when breastfeeding. It’s designed and made in the UK.
Firespiral Luna Twilight Festival
“The wrap itself (made from 59% organic combed cotton, 28% linen and 13% viscose) is light and airy, in Firespiral’s Alchemy weave, perfect for summer. The linen makes it strong, and the viscose gives it a bit of bounce. When tightened properly, it doesn’t dig in, and it holds my bigger baby (and even my 5-year-old!) with ease. Although the fabric is prone to pulls due to the loose weave, these are easily fixed and not noticeable in this design. This definitely has the #firespiral magic, and I’d love to try it as a longer wrap too. If you haven’t yet tried a Firespiral, you should – they are definitely worth it!” Jess
The width of the wrap is approximately 68cm it comes in a range of lengths. Firespiral wraps are made in the UK.
Liinalapsi Wompat Baby Carrier
“I’m loving our Wompat Baby Carrier at the moment, made using Vanamo Solki Tarina fabric. My husband prefers the simplicity of a buckle carrier, but this allows me to indulge my love of #wovenwrap fabrics too. Win win. It’s also incredibly comfortable. The versatility helps – my husband uses it with vertical straps, whilst I prefer them crossed. And it has a very cute pixie hood too!” Helen
The carrier is made from 100% organic cotton and is suitable for children from birth to 18 months. It has a hood for added support. It’s designed and handwoven by a small weaving mill in Finland.
Connecta Baby Carrier
“The Connecta Baby Carrier has been my trusty friend throughout my motherhood journey. From my first apprehensive walk with our baby six days postpartum, to present-day adventures with an 18-month-old toddler. Connecta goes everywhere with us and has played a big part in our attachment parenting path, keeping our baby feeling safe, warm and involved in all we do. I love it for its practicality, ease of use, versatility and quality. We travelled to Sicily with just hand luggage thanks to this wonderful creation.” Ruth
This is a supportive, structured baby carrier with convenient quick-release buckles, well-padded straps, and a flexible, unpadded waist to fit to the wearer’s body. It can be used from 3.5kg to 24kg and features an integrated sleeping hood. You can use a Connecta to carry your baby on your front, hip and on your back.
Integra Baby Carrier
“We love our Integra Baby Carrier with its cute dinosaur design. It has a soft thin waist strap that isn’t as bulky as a lot that we tried, and the straps that cross at the back distribute the weight beautifully. My son loves it! It can be used for front and back carrying, and folds down really small for shoving in a handbag when not in use. We’ve used our pram maybe 3 or 4 times since having my son and he’s heading towards 2 years old; we are true babywearing converts!” Robyn
The Integra Baby Carrier is made in the UK and is available in a range of sizes. It is easy to adjust and machine-washable.
Amawrap Baby Sling
“What do I love about babywearing with my Amawrap? Once you get used to the tying bit, it’s really simple. When I get home from work, and Shabs is frazzled from working all day and looking after a newborn too, I just tie the Amawrap on and stick Micah in and get on with what I need to do. I get some baby cuddles and Shabs gets some peace!” Dom
Amawraps are made from 100% cotton, in a range of designs and colours, and are suitable from newborn to 15kg. The wrap can also be used to carry twins. Made in the UK.
“I hired a KahuBaby from our local sling library. My 8-week-old baby absolutely loves it, as I do. The material is sturdy yet comfortable for him and he is happy to be in it for hours. I was looking for a carrier that is multi-use as we love getting out with the dog for county walks, and I need to wear him round the house due to reflux issues. This carrier ticks every box and, even better, its use is newborn to 2.5 years, so I won’t need to buy another carrier later on. The three clip fastenings mean I don’t have to worry about it not being tight enough, and the shoulder pads make it comfortable to wear for hours. I also love that it comes in a range of patterns and colours. In fact, I love it so much, I am making a purchase!” Becca
The carrier can be used in four carrying positions and is easy to adjust, lightweight and comfortable. It’s suitable for babies from 3.2kg to 16kg and is made from 100% organic cotton. It has a hood for extra support. KahuBaby work with local British designers and the carriers are manufactured ethically in Europe.
