Jacqui Beadies necklace, Fingerprints in Uganda
These wonderful, colourful necklaces are made in Uganda by Jacqui Beadies, who explains: “I and my family hand roll long triangles of colourful recycled paper, glue the end, dip in resin, and drape strings of them over the washing line attached to the bougainvillea bush in our front garden.” The necklaces are long, so they can be worn in various ways – I wrap mine around three times. The colours and variety make each one unique and every time I wear mine I think of the hours of care taken to create it. Jacqui is supported by Tim and Susannah Hills, who set up the charityFingerprints in Uganda to help children and families.
